How does a new-age school look like?

New-age schooling has come far beyond just in-room learning. GenZ needs more than just books to learn from.

Indian schools have promoted rote learning for decades. But sadly, that is not going to work anymore. The pace at which the job market is evolving demands well-trained students. That said, the relevance of academic excellence will not diminish; it will get enhanced with the right combination of extracurricular activities that promote holistic growth.

Schools have to move beyond traditional learning, where extracurricular activities are considered significant.

When schools embrace extracurricular activities and adopt hands-on learning as their approach, curiosity and better communication and social skills get instilled among students that help in their psychological, social, and emotional growth.

When schools go beyond rote learning, it makes learning engaging and motivates children to learn and do better. With the help of extracurricular activities, education becomes meaningful.

New-age kids demand contemporary learning.

Holistic learning is a new-age approach to knowledge that takes care of children’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, particularly in early childhood. Instead of restricting teaching school subjects, the holistic approach aims to empower children to use their academic learning as a groundwork for their emotional and social development.

Cognitive, language, social, emotional and physical skills are critical aspects of holistic development. These skills are required to navigate their life successfully and survive in this highly competitive world. These can be achieved by promoting extracurricular and co-curricular activities in schools.

In addition to extracurricular activities, hands-on learning also is a must in schools. It benefits students in multiple ways as it is more engaging, leads to increased retention and offers practice in problem-solving and critical thinking. Hands-on learning helps children put their knowledge to the test. So instead of just passively consuming knowledge, they can create it with kinesthetic learning.

Why LEAD is everything your school needs

LEAD has been a gamechanger for the Indian education space.

Extracurricular activities for kids

According to UNESCO, “Early childhood care and education (ECCE) is more than primary school preparation. It aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.”

At LEAD, each pre-primary class (Nursery, JKG and SKG) follows an integrated curriculum consisting of cognitive and development domains of literacy, numeracy; EVS; aesthetic and creative expression, and motor skills and social and emotional development.

Teachers at LEAD use a tablet that includes detailed lesson plans, audio-visual resources, soft copy of books, and activities. With a theme-based comprehensive curriculum, unique Concept-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach, Learn-by-Doing module, and Extracurricular Activities, LEAD-powered schools promote new-age learning.

LEAD also conducts various competitions and championships to promote empathy and leadership. LEAD Championships is a national competitions collection that provides students with a platform to showcase their skills while competing with students from across the country. In addition to the competitions, the platform also provides a rich learning experience via a series of renowned experts’ masterclasses and workshops.
