Making technology more human. Engaged and enhanced learning at home

learning at home

In the context of ongoing stressful times, learning from home seems to be the only way out. However, with the rapid pace of development happening globally, education systems have grown progressively disconnected from the realities and needs of global economies. To keep up with this fast-evolving pace, schools need to look beyond the good old schooling methods, stand-and-deliver mode, and brick-and-mortar structure as the global populace witnessed what happened when the pandemic struck the world— one of the most robust sectors came to a standstill.

Looking at technology as a need rather than a necessity

What technology has done in the past and what it can do is not a secret. The world’s most thriving sectors rely on technology, and the ongoing pandemic gave the education industry the much-needed wake-up call to embrace technology across its functions.

World Economic Forum says, “The standardised model of direct learning widely used in mainstream education today was largely influenced by the needs of the First and Second Industrial Revolutions. The Third and Fourth Industrial Revolutions introduced production automation and intangible Introduction value creation. These new drivers of growth created massive shifts in the skills required to contribute to the economy and the ways in which people work, raising questions about the adequacy of current education systems in keeping pace with these changes.”

One of the prime barriers that traditional education failed to achieve is the quality of learning, and this gap was exacerbated after the pandemic prolonged school closures indefinitely.  Education quality directly impacts student performance and even their attendance. Students are more likely to attend classes with a structure, a personal touch and where attention to detail is given. Nevertheless, despite the pandemic being a loud reminder to the rote learning system, quality learning in schools still remains debatable.

Smart schools because online learning is not enough

Online learning doesn’t guarantee student excellence or even consistent attendance. Students are often found distracted in online classes where little to no attention is given to their engagement factor. Working parents have limited time to give to their ward’s studies, and hence online learning though a respite, is not the holy grail that will lead to students’ overall success. Instead of learning, students are often found wasting time on mobile, leading to poor performance.

Smart schools mitigated the loopholes of online learning. These schools open avenues that were never experimented with before, fuelling the sector with new hope. Smart classes for school help students with:

  •   Personalised attention
  •   Tracking gaps in students performance and addressing them on time
  •   Better interaction between teachers and parents
  •   Flexibility
  •   Joy of learning in collaboration
  •   Increased engagement with resources other than textbooks

Smart schools are reassuring students and parents that students will not fall behind their learning gap despite any crisis, and their future will not be impacted. However, while online learning remains a mere medium, a human touch is also needed for students to do well—the concoction of technology and human make for perfect ingredients for student success.

How is LEAD offering a human touch via its integrated system?

LEAD offers MyClass@Home feature in the LEAD Teacher App, where school teachers can conduct classes seamlessly without the hassle of sending links, fixing meetings, etc. Moreover, students have many queries that might not get solved in pre-recorded classes— MyClass@Home enables live classes that help students solve their problems in real-time. In addition, teachers who use MyClass@Home via LEAD Teacher App teach in bilingual language so that if a student is not proficient at English, they can also grasp concepts quickly.

Smart classes for school

Also, teachers who use MyClass@Home know their students and vice-versa, prompting students to finish their homework and assignments on time instead of slacking in pre-recorded classes. When a teacher takes class using MC@H, it doubles student attendance, leading to their better performance. Also, students can ask their doubts in real-time in a live class. This helps in fixing learning gaps on time and achieving better results.  Students will explore Practice with Friends and other features of the app. They will also be able to Practice with Friends that allow them to solve quizzes, use flashcards and easily challenge their friends on LEAD Student App.
